Dollywood’s Harvest Festival runs from September 29 – October 28, 2017 mostly in tandem with it’s Southern Gospel music event. Families get to enjoy the glow of thousands of intricately-carved pumpkins as they wander through immersive harvest-themed displays throughout Dollywood’s Timber Canyon along with “Pumpkin Artists” onsite who host demonstrations showing guest how to create their own masterpieces!
The park is open daily from 10am to 9pm throughout the event and the festival is included as part of your admission to Dollywood. We decided to go with Premier Parking for $25 instead of the standard $12 and it was WELL worth it. The Premier lot is a roughly 1 minute walk from the main entrance and has a separate ticket booth with absolutely no line. We immediately entered after purchasing tickets and started to see the many pumpkin harvest decorations.
It was fun and festival looking right from the start even though it wasn’t dark outside yet and even by the rides there were various fun decorations. The kids LOVED the various Jack-O-Lantern’s strewn everywhere you look.
For the next several hours we hit the various attractions in the park including the Wings of America Birds of Prey show and rides like the famous Wild Eagle, and took in the beautiful fall day!
Before eating an obscene amount at lunch and then really overdoing it with a Crossroads Funnel Cake!
There was still time to wrap up with a few more rides before taking a final look at the Great Pumpkin LumiNights decorations one more time before heading out of the park.
Honestly, we’ve been to Dollywood on two separate occasions at this point and each time, the whole family had a fantastic time. I love the feel of being in the Smokies, especially in fall and it’s a fantastically fun park with friendly staff and reasonable prices for a family. Well known for it’s food there are never complaints and it has a nice balance of rides and things to see between the shows, and craftsmans located all over the park… the rides have a nice balance for all ages including the carnival section that is perfect for young children all the way to the roller coasters that aren’t for the faint of heart! If you get a chance this fall, go check out their Great Pumpkin LumiNights event!
